Palm Beach Motor Yachts Brings the Offshore Racecourse to Life at the Newport Bermuda Race
Delivering real-time insight from the environment where performance is proven.
Palm Beach Motor Yachts will expand its presence at the 2026 Newport Bermuda Race, introducing a new way to experience one of offshore sailing’s most demanding passages.
For the first time in the race’s history, a daily broadcast will be delivered directly from the Gulf Stream—bringing audiences onto the racecourse itself. Hosted on board a Palm Beach 70, the program will provide real-time analysis, weather insight, race tactics, and direct perspectives from competitors as the race unfolds offshore.
Set against the dynamic conditions of the Atlantic and the Gulf Stream, the broadcast offers more than coverage, it reflects the environment where performance is defined. Wind, sea state, and tactical decision-making converge in ways that cannot be replicated onshore, shaping both the outcome of the race and the understanding of what it takes to move efficiently and confidently through open water.
At the helm of the Palm Beach 70 will be CEO, Founder and Chief Designer Mark Richards, whose experience at the highest levels of elite offshore racing brings a distinct and informed perspective to the broadcast. His insights, drawn from decades of successful competition and the ongoing Palm Beach XI Supermaxi program, our driving force for innovation and performance—underscore a philosophy central to Palm Beach Motor Yachts: that the most meaningful innovation is proven at sea.
Operating in the Gulf Stream, offshore, and in step with a competitive race fleet, the Palm Beach 70 is well-equipped to support a live, daily broadcast from the racecourse itself. That capability speaks directly to the balance, fuel efficiency, and seakeeping that define every Palm Beach Motor Yacht. Participants can follow the Palm Beach 70 and race participants in real time through the Newport Bermuda Race tracker
In 2024, another Palm Beach 70 completed the 636-nautical-mile Newport Bermuda passage with 34% of fuel capacity remaining, cruising at approximately 17 knots at just 50% engine load and averaging 28 gallons per hour. In real-world conditions, this level of efficiency is up to 60% greater than comparable yachts in its class.
It is this same confidence and composure—refined under real conditions—that translates seamlessly to life onboard. Whether navigating the shifting conditions of open water or cruising with family and friends through Newport Harbor and beyond, the experience remains effortless, capable, and assured.
This initiative builds on Palm Beach Motor Yachts’ broader commitment to the sport of sailing and its community, including its role supporting race tracking and on-water engagement. As Palm Beach Motor Yachts continues to expand its presence, this partnership reinforces our philosophy: from ocean racing innovation, to cruising perfection.
